A Macon policeman was arrested and charged over the weekend with raping a woman, according to a media report.
Officer Chris Campbell, 29, 0f Macon, resigned just before he was charged on Sunday with rape in connection with an incident involving a 19-year-old Houston County woman, according to a report by macon.com.
The newspaper website also reported that the woman was drunk and that Campbell got her a motel room then had sex with her while on duty. The woman told authorities she was unconscious during the incident.
Campbell had been with the Macon police for three years and was a patrolman, police Sgt. Melanie Hofmann told macon.com.
Campbell was questioned Saturday and arrested early Sunday. No bond was set when he appeared for a hearing in Bibb County Superior Court Tuesday, and he remained in the Bibb jail.
