Officials are looking into inconsistencies in the story of a Gwinnett County man who lost his wife, his two young daughters, his dog and his house in a fire earlier this month, Channel 2 Action News reported Friday.

That news came one day after investigators returned to the site of the Feb. 9 fire in the 1000 block of Pointer Ridge.

Brent Patterson was the only one who escaped the fire that killed his wife, Kathy, the couple’s 9- and 12-year-old daughters and the family dog.

Investigators initially said they did not suspect foul play and the fire appeared to be wind-driven.

“Fire investigators say that burn patterns and witness accounts match their findings and that no foul play is suspected at this point,” Gwinnett fire spokesman Tommy Rutledge said at the time. “Please keep in mind that the information is preliminary.”

Now they say they’re looking at all aspects of the case.
