A box truck hit both a van and two-door car late Wednesday morning on I-75 northbound in Marietta, causing a wreck that clogged the interstate for about 90 minutes, the Georgia State Patrol said.

The wreck happened about 11:25 a.m. just south of South Marietta Parkway, the GSP said. Investigators believe the van and passenger car both slowed due to traffic in the area, but the box truck did not and hit both vehicles.

Two people were injured in the wreck, including the drivers of the van and car, a GSP spokeswoman said.

The driver of the box truck, Richard Cofield, 53, of Chicago, was charged with driving too fast for conditions and following too closely.

The interstate reopened shortly before 1 p.m.
