The status box of Anastasia Tarik Hill's MySpace page, dormant for nearly two years, reads simply, "lost my way."

On March 5, 2010, the day before her 15th birthday, Hill disappeared from her grandmother's home on Clark Road in Ellenwood.

The mystery as to her whereabouts lingered until Tuesday, when the GBI Crime Lab conclusively identified remains that had been found more than a year ago as belonging to Hill, Henry County Police Det. Thomas Stott told the AJC.

Her death has been ruled a homicide, authorities said.

Investigators turned up few clues in the months following Hill's disappearance, as they acknowledged in May 2010 when they requested the public's assistance in finding the girl. There were witnesses, police said at the time, who placed the teen around Fulton Industrial Boulevard in Atlanta.

Six months later, remains were found on the bank of a stream near the 900 block of Ga. 138 East in Stockbridge, roughly 10 miles from Hill's home.

A Henry police spokesman said in November 2010 that the unidentified body was likely a "black or mixed-race female between the ages of 17 to 25."

Family members could not be reached for comment Tuesday.

Though no cause of death has been released, the GBI's preliminary analysis found the young woman died of blunt force trauma. Police have no suspects.
