Gainesville police are investigating human remains found in a vacant wooded lot, Channel 2 Action News reported Friday.

The remains were found about 2 p.m. along Jesse Jewel Parkway near Dorsey Street, according to the news station. Police did not say who found them.

They are believed to be that of an adult, but officials aren’t sure if they are male or female, according to the news station.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called in to help, but no other information will be released until an autopsy is performed.
