Reinhardt University in Waleska has set a public ribbon-cutting ceremony to unveil recently renovated library facilities that represent a partnership with Cherokee County and the Sequoyah Regional Library System.

The event, at the Hill Freeman Library and Spruill Learning Center, begins at 10 a.m., Oct. 10, and will be led by the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce. The university will provide shuttles to the library from the parking lot next to Waleska United Methodist Church.

The county and library system agreed to release $1 million in voter-approved Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax funds for the project. The 14,411-square-foot renovation includes a learning space, classrooms, technology and a new community room available for university and Waleska community functions.

“This effort will expand resources for our students at Reinhardt and also continue to serve our neighbors in Waleska,” said Billy Hasty, chairman of the Reinhardt Board of Trustees.
