Metro Atlanta's weather will flip-flop from sunny with above-normal temperatures on Monday to rain, storms and cooler than normal on Tuesday. Then it's back into the heat for the rest of the week.

There's a slight chance that Tuesday's storms could turn severe over all but the far southern counties of Georgia, the National Weather Service said.

The greatest threat from Tuesday's storms will be strong winds, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton.

The chance of rain is only 20 percent on Monday afternoon, but will ramp up to 50 percent overnight before jumping to 70 percent on Tuesday.

Minton said highs will be around 94 on Monday, but should top out around 86 on Tuesday as the rain moves in.

Minton is predicting highs of 93 Wednesday through Friday, with only a 20 to 30 percent chance of rain each day.

Atlanta's normal high for the end of July and beginning of August is 89.

Lows this week should be a degree or two above the normal low of 71.
