Wednesday’s morning commute began wet, but ended dry as the rain that soaked metro Atlanta overnight tapered off from the northwest.

Overnight rainfall totals were mostly between a quarter- and a half-inch.

“As we get into the afternoon, we’re going to see sunshine,” Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton said, adding that afternoon highs would be around 53 degrees.

Thursday and Friday will be mostly cloudy, and rain moves back into the area for the weekend, Minton said.

Highs Thursday will be in the upper 40s after morning lows in the upper 20s. Friday will see temperature extremes of 34 and 53, Minton said.

There’s a 50 percent chance of rain Saturday, with morning lows in the low 40s and afternoon highs around 53.

The chance of rain decreases to 20 percent Sunday, when lows in the upper 30s will be followed by highs in the mid-40s.
