Rain forecast for Saturday and Sunday

An approaching weather system will bring metro Atlanta a good chance of rain throughout the weekend, forecasters said.

While sunny skies and highs in the mid-60s are predicted for Friday afternoon, skies will begin to cloud up overnight, the National Weather Service said.

A 50 percent chance of showers is forecast for Saturday afternoon, along with highs in the low 60s.

The chance of rain increases to 100 percent Saturday night, when lows will be in the upper 40s.

Sunday will be cloudy and cooler, with a 50 percent chance of rain and highs in the mid-50s.

The early outlook for Thanksgiving day calls for mostly sunny skies, with highs in the mid-50s and lows in the 30s.

The Saturday night forecast for Athens, where the Georgia Bulldogs take on the Kentucky Wildcats in a 7:45 p.m. game, is for a 100 percent chance of rain and temperatures falling through the 50s toward an overnight low in the upper 40s.
