Police are looking for vandals who spray painted a racial slur and swastika outside a Kennesaw family’s home on Wednesday.

“We woke up this morning and it was there in the middle of the yard,” Kennesaw resident Amanda Sullivan told Channel 2.

Sullivan said her family moved to the subdivision along Bells Ferry Road because it was a quiet neighborhood.

“It’s upsetting because it’s a family neighborhood (with) little kids all over the yard,” Sullivan told Channel 2.

Resident Juliana Lima said the neighborhood was racially diverse and that she’s seen different types of people.

“It’s pretty scary to know there is some type of racism going on,” Lima told Channel 2, “I’ll definitely be concerned for my safety as well.”

Sullivan said she hasn’t witnessed any racism in their community, but will have to talk to her kids about what they saw.

“I’m worried about the kids and explaining to them and explaining to my five year old what it means,” she told Channel 2.

Sullivan called the police and the graffiti has since been removed, but that doesn’t ease her mind about the situation.

“You don’t want any more tension,” she told Channel 2, “There’s already so much tension as there is. Seeing that is upsetting.”
