Purchase of vehicles, equipment for Henry County police approved

The Henry County Police Department is acquiring new vehicles and other equipment after approved was given Dec. 3 by the Board of Commissioners.

A grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety is being applied to the purchase of three new Ford Explorer pursuit utility vehicles for the department’s HEAT Unit at a total of $110,828.64 from Legacy Ford of McDonough. Equipment for fleet vehicles will come from two technology companies at a total cost of nearly $140,000 and a new contract for body armor will amount to $68,350 for one year with an option to renew for two additional years.
