The city of East Point is seeking input from community members and stakeholders on on a proposed new recreation and aquatic center in Ward D.

A community meeting is planned for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24 Asa G. Hilliard Elementary School, 3353 Mt. Olive Road, East Point. Renderings of the proposed new recreation and aquatic center will be on hand for public viewing.

The city of East Point Parks and Recreation Department provides a variety of recreation, leisure, and cultural activities for the community. With home to 23 parks, a recreation center, playgrounds, tennis courts, sand volleyball, basketball courts, and trails, the department stives to improve the quality of life of each resident by providing affordable activities and programs.

The vision of the Parks and Recreation Department is to promote a healthy community where all residents participate in a broad range of parks, recreation and cultural enrichment activities offered at various well-maintained public facilities, according to city administration.
