A private preschool in Atlanta will soon have room for a couple dozen more students.

Primrose School of Midtown, which opened at Colony Square in 2010, announced Thursday that it not only renewed its lease, but is expanding operations. The childcare provider plans to move this month from a 13,000-square-foot space to a 22,960-square-foot one.

Keri Stoltz, owner of the Midtown franchise location, said the prime location has become "a huge recruitment tool for attracting and retaining the best educators for our students." Primrose has more than 40 locations in Georiga, including schools in Druid Hills, Alpharetta, Smyrna and Buford.

“We are excited to be a part of the reimagined Colony Square and look forward to welcoming our students to the new space,” Stoltz said in a press release.

The new space will include one additional classroom that allows for 24 more students. Owners are also adding a conference room, multipurpose room, a playground and a library nook.

North American Properties, the developer behind Colony Square's redevelopment, plans to modify the former Primrose space for new businesses, such as iPic Theaters, the news release said. Upon completion in 2020, the property is expected to have 912,000 square feet of office space, condos, a 466-room hotel, 160,000 square feet of entertainment, dining, retail and fitness businesses and a food hall known as Main & Main.

The school plans to donate all its former classroom items to Atlanta-based nonprofit City of Refuge. The donation will include 20 tables and 136 chairs, 15 bookshelves, 30 rugs, toys, puzzles, equipment and a playground set.

Cushman & Wakefield Director Boris Garbuz executed the lease on behalf of Primrose School of Midtown.
