The Powder Springs City Council voted 5-0 Monday to delay a vote on a weapons ban in city buildings for two weeks.
A public hearing will be held on this new law at 7 p.m. Oct. 19 in the Council Chambers, Community Development building, 4488 Pineview Drive.
If approved, City Manager Pam Conner would be authorized to prohibit weapons, including handguns, long guns and knives, from being carried into city buildings - even if the person has a weapons carry license.
Signs and security personnel also may be used by Conner to implement the new law.
