Powder Springs chooses mayor pro tem
By secret ballot on Tuesday, the Powder Springs City Council chose Councilwoman Cheryl Sarvis to serve as the mayor pro tem.
She will preside over meetings in case Mayor Al Thurman is absent.
A retired school principal, Sarvis has served on the City Council for six years.
