The pedestrian struck by a train and killed late Wednesday night in Rockdale County has been identified, and now police are trying to find his family.

Bryant Bennett Johnson, 54, was identified by Conyers police through fingerprints, the Georgia State Patrol said Thursday.

Conyers police spokeswoman Jennifer Edwards said the man was walking east on the tracks near Ellington Drive around 9 p.m. when he was hit by an eastbound CSX train.

The engineer sounded the train's horn but was unable to stop before hitting the man, Edwards said. Johnson was killed on impact, she said.

After exhausting all leads, authorities said they have been unable to locate any of Johnson's relatives. Anyone with information on Johnson or his family should contact Conyers police at 770-929-4211 or the Georgia State Patrol in Monroe at 770-464-1800.
