State child welfare officials are investigating a Milton mother after an alleged drunken incident, police said.

Milton police charged 34-year-old Esther Lucero with public drunkenness and public indecency after they say they found her passed out in her car on Saturday.

"[Police] found the suspect inside of her vehicle, unclothed and seemingly unresponsive to their request to speak with her," Lt. Charles Barstow told Channel 2 Action News.

Police said Lucero's 11-year-old son was home alone during the incident.

Georgia has no state law regarding the supervision of children, but police still contacted the Division of Family and Children Services.

"Our officers were concerned enough to where they made contact with DFCS and made them aware of the situation,” he said.

The Georgia Department of Human Services advises that children between the ages of 9 and 12 years may be left alone for brief periods of time.

"She is the single parent there and was not at the residence and was out at the bar drinking instead,” Barstow said.

In an email, Lucero told Channel 2 Action News she had no comment.
