A valuable collection of game cards may have led to the death of a Florida reporter whose body was found encased in concrete in Georgia, police said.

William and Christopher Cormier, 31, of Winder, were charged Thursday in Florida with homicide and armed robbery in the August death of Pensacola News Journal reporter Sean Dugas, 30, said Sgt. James Howell with Pensacola police.

An autopsy conducted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation determined Dugas was killed by blunt force trauma to the head.

The Cormiers were taken into custody in Winder on Oct. 8 and charged with murder and concealing a death. They are being held in separate Georgia jails without bond.

Pensacola investigators said the Cormiers, who were houseguests of Dugas, killed their host Aug. 27 in Pensacola. William Cormier drove to Walmart afterward to purchase materials to conceal the body, Pensacola Detective Danny Harnett said.

Investigators in Florida said in a press release that a collection of “Magic the Gathering” gaming cards worth an estimated $25,000 to $100,000 had been stolen from Dugas’ home and sold in Pensacola, Tennessee and Georgia.

“Our Criminal Investigations Division spent many intensive hours on this case, and I am very proud of the work they have done,” Pensacola Police Chief Chip W. Simmons said.
