A Gainesville man is in custody after police say he dragged a woman by her hair and threatened her with a knife before her young child helped her escape.

Miguel Robles-Fernandez, 26, was arrested Monday and is being charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, kidnapping and armed robbery.

On Monday around midnight, a 28-year-old woman was walking toward her home on Tracy Lane in Oakwood, after getting out of her vehicle.

“Robles came out from the side of the residence and (dragged) the female by her hair and arms to the side of the residence at knife-point, threatening to stab her,” Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Deputy Nicole Bailes wrote in an email.

The woman fought back and attempted to take the knife away, injuring her hands in the process, Bailes said.

“During the altercation, the victim screamed numerous times for help and those screams were heard by her young child in the home,” Bailes said. “The victim’s child opened the carport door and the victim had the opportunity to escape Robles.”

Robles is accused of taking the woman’s phone before fleeing, according to authorities.

The victim was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center and treated for injuries.

“The victim was able to identify Robles as the suspect because she had previously worked with Robles’ wife,” Bailes said.

Robles also faces four counts of violating the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act for alleged connections to BOE23—“Busting On Everyone” street gang, Bailes said.

He is being held at the Hall County Jail without bond and is scheduled for a hearing on March 18.
