Workers in a downtown officer tower were allowed back into their building Wednesday afternoon after a search in response to a bomb threat turned up no explosives.

"They quickly determined there was nothing to it," said Lt. Paul Cosper of the Georgia State Patrol.

Some employees were ordered out of the building, at 2 Peachtree Street, after a bomb threat was made Wednesday morning, said Capt. Jolyon Bundrige of the Atlanta Department of Fire Rescue.

Cosper said those employees were readmitted during the lunch hour.

The building is next to the Five Points MARTA station, at the corner of Peachtree and Marietta streets. It houses several state social service agencies, and a Wells Fargo bank branch. Cosper said the threat, which he believed was phoned in, referred to a bomb in the bank.
