Two suspects were arrested Tuesday in connection to the killing of a man at a gas station in Decatur.

Dontavious Fulks, 24, and Virkerrie Steward, 20, were arrested Tuesday for allegedly fatally shooting Carl Moreland on Sunday afternoon at the Exxon station in the 4100 block of Memorial Drive, according to DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Adrion Bell.

“According to reports and a surveillance video, Fulks and Moreland were engaged in a dispute when Fulks reached in a backpack carried by Steward, pulled a handgun and shot Moreland in the chest,” Bell said.

The suspects were picked up in the 400 block of Fulton Street, Bell said.

Fulks and Steward are charged with murder and being held in the DeKalb County Jail.
