David Wayne Williams was supposed to meet with a couple to purchase their truck after he responded to their Craigslist ad.

Instead, authorities say Williams followed the wife inside her home, stabbed her on her neck, chin, arm and stomach, and stole the vehicle.

Williams entered a guilty plea Friday in the April 2016 stabbing and robbery that left Mayra Espitia with multiple stab wounds. Williams’ accomplices, siblings Donna Gail Warren, 51, and Jerry Wade Warren, 50, also entered in guilty pleas in connection with the robbery.

According to the Whitfield County District Attorney’s Office, Williams responded to the Espitias’ Craigslist ad about their truck. They scheduled a time to meet, but Williams hadn’t arrived.

Police say Williams showed up late and with the Warrens in tow and convinced Espitia to get the truck title from the home. He followed her inside and allegedly stabbed her multiple times.

Williams then drove off in the truck with the Warrens close behind.

Police say Williams sold the truck in Cedartown and split the money with the Warrens. He was arrested while he was on his way to give Jerry Warren his cut of the money.

Williams was sentenced to 30 years in prison without the possibility of parole. Once out of jail, he will spend five years on probation for a weapons charge.

Donna Warren will spend 10 years in prison and 10 years on probation. Her brother Jerry Warren will spend five years in prison without the possibility of parole based on his previous criminal record.

Williams and the Warrens are also prohibited from having contact with the Espitias and must pay restitution to the Georgia Crime Victim Compensation Fund, who covered Mayra Espitia’s medical expenses.
