After weather and redesign delays, work is nearly finished on Phase 4 of the Big Creek Greenway in Forsyth County.
The latest phase of the multi-use trail extends it by about 2.8 miles, from the Bethelview Road trailhead, continuing along Big Creek and then running parallel to Kelly Mill Road, to end at Johnson Road.
Forsyth Parks are working to open this part of the trail later this month, a county spokeswoman said. For safety reasons, residents are asked not to use the new part of the trail until after the official opening. For information: http://goo.gl/PuycxG
CRS Building Corp. was awarded the Phase 4 contract in October 2013, and the project was supposed to have been finished last year, but weather-related delays along with concerns of the trail’s alignment pushed back the completion date, the spokeswoman said.
The first three phases created about 6.8 miles of Greenway from McFarland Parkway, near Alpharetta, to Bethelview (a separate section of the Greenway runs in Fulton County). The fifth phase will bring the trail’s length to roughly 15 miles.
