One person died and a second was injured in a two-car crash on Hiram Acworth Highway early Thursday in Cobb County, police said.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Hiram Acworth Highway, which is also known as State Route 92, and Meryton Park in Dallas.

Mckinley Lewis, 41, of Douglasville, was driving a gold 1998 GMC Sonoma north on Hiram Acworth Highway, when a black 2015 Chevrolet Impala crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with the Sonoma, Cobb police Officer Alicia Chilton said in a press release.

Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Police were withholding the identity of one Impala occupant, who was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released from Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.

This collision remains under investigation, and anyone with information about it is asked to call (770) 499-3987.
