Pedestrian struck, killed in Cobb
A woman died after being hit by a vehicle while walking in a roadway early Sunday in Mableton, Cobb County police said.
Vanessa Ordonez De Los Santos, 31, of Mableton, was walking in the northbound lanes of Mableton Parkway near South Gordon Road around 5:30 a.m. when she was hit by a Nissan Xterra also traveling northbound, investigators said.
She was transported by ambulance to WellStar Cobb Hospital, where she was pronounced dead just before 9 a.m., Officer Mike Bowman said in a news release.
Driver Milton Ariaz, 60, also of Mableton, was not injured in the collision. He was charged with driving without a valid Georgia driver’s license and taken to the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.
No additional charges are expected in the case, Bowman said.
