Peachtree Corners Mayor Mike Mason will represent Gwinnett as a member of The Atlanta Regional Commission board.

The ARC is the official planning agency for the 10-county Atlanta region, including Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry and Rockdale counties as well as the city of Atlanta and 73 other cities. The commission focuses their energy on leadership, attention and planning resources to ensure regional progress.

One mayor from each of the 10-member counties (with the exception of Fulton, which has two, one from north Fulton and one from south Fulton) is represented on the board and is selected by majority vote of the other mayors. Gwinnett has 16 cities; Mason was elected by majority vote of the mayors and the Buford commission chair to represent the county.

“I am truly honored to have been selected to sit on the ARC board,” said Mayor Mike Mason. “I look forward to being part of the organization which plays a very important role in ensuring the entire metro Atlanta area remains a dynamic region.”

Mason will also serve on one of 11 committees that focus on key areas such as aging, budget, land use, transportation and air quality.
