Peachtree City has amended its social host ordinance to further crack down on underage drinking.

The city council voted 4-0 Thursday (with Mayor Vanessa Fleisch absent) to specify that parents, guardians or other adults will be held criminally responsible if they host or allow parties where anyone under age 21 possesses or consumes alcohol.

The ordinance applies to events on private and public property involving groups of three or more people, but does not apply to religious ceremonies or to parents with their own children in their own homes.

Fayette County already updated its ordinance, and similar measures are pending in Fayetteville and Tyrone.
