Residents of Tyrone and unincorporated Fayette County will pay a lot more to use their golf carts in Peachtree City starting this year.
The City Council of Peachtree City voted 3-2 Thursday to end a reciprocal registration agreement with Tyrone, and raised the surcharge for all cart owners outside the city from $60 to $100 per year.
The annual sticker fee for all golf carts will go from $12 to $15 per year. The additional revenue will go toward the city’s $1.7 million cost of repaving about 10 miles of paths this year.
Council members Kim Learnard and Terry Ernst opposed the increase.
