The City Council of Peachtree City gave its staff the go-ahead Thursday to start developing proposals to put golf cart crossings at more state roadway intersections. Nine sites have been identified – seven along Ga. Hwy. 54 and two on Ga. Hwy. 74 – but the city will narrow that down to just two or three to begin with. The Georgia Department of Transportation does not currently have guidelines for cart crossings, which will require city staff and perhaps contracted engineers to submit plans for each crossing individually for state approval. Community Services Director Jon Rorie said the city must balance public safety with the desired convenience of greater golf cart access.
