The owners of The Avenue shopping center in Peachtree City are asking the City Council to permit “open container zones” within the complex so patrons can consume alcohol outdoors.
General Manager Andrew Moth outlined the plan on March 15, which would require amending the city’s alcohol ordinance. The center is already building more outdoor seating areas. The request is to allow one 16-ounce beverage per adult, in approved containers from Avenue restaurants, to be consumed in designated areas during business hours. Only three restaurants currently serve alcohol there.
The city will draft a proposal and consider the matter at a future meeting.
