Sure, it’s fall, but summer is still playing catch-up and warm weather — with temperatures in the mid to high 80s — is expected through the week, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Metro Atlanta exceeded 80 degrees by early afternoon, Channel 2 meteorologist Brian Monahan said. And that’s the average high, but Sunday’s expected high is 86 degrees.

Currently, the temperature in Atlanta is 82 degrees.

And while warm, the air is expected to stay dry with little chance of rain, Mondahan said. That’s because of the local impact from Hurricane Maria.

Maria is hanging out in the Atlantic Ocean and not expected to make landfall in the U.S., but the storm is pulling moisture away.

Monahan said a cold front next week may cool things down, but the next forecast chance of rain is 10 percent on Friday.

Monday’s weather is expected to closely mimic Sunday’s.
