Parks service reopens stretch of Chattahoochee, trail

The National Parks Service has reopened a stretch of the Chattahoochee River and a fitness trial that were closed almost two weeks because of flood damage and contamination.

The Parks Service said Saturday the bacteria count was now at a safe level in the river between Holcomb Bridge and Peachtree Creek. The trail at Cochran Shoals also is safe enough to reopen, the service said.

But several areas remain closed. They are the trails and boat ramps at Paces Mill, Johnson Ferry, Whitewater and the parking lot at Vickery Creek.
