The Henry County Board of Commissioners voted Dec. 4 to approve a budget amendment and award a $2,103,167 contract for the design/build on the North Ola Park expansion project. The work for the SPLOST IV project will be done on property previously purchased behind Ola Elementary School.

The scope of work will involve two baseball fields, a concession and restroom building, and parking facilities. Two proposals received in response to the county’s RFP were scored and evaluated, with SportsTurf of Whitesburg achieving the best score. The evaluation committee accepted SportsTurf’s final offer for the amount ultimately approved by the board. A budget amendment was required transferring $1,401,210 from the Jason T. Harper Event Center improvement account to the North Ola Park improvement account.

Board approval was unanimous with no discussion.
