One person was killed and another suffered burns in an overnight fire that destroyed a mobile home  in Douglas County.

The fire broke out just before 2 a.m. Tuesday in a trailer on Riverside Drive.

Douglas County spokesman Wes Tallon told Channel 2 Action News that firefighters found the home, which was occupied by a woman and her adult son, "totally consumed" by fire when they arrived.

"The son was outside, and he was burned and bleeding and everything, and he was going, ‘my mom, my mom, my mom,' "neighbor Debra Screws told Channel 2

The son was taken to the Grady Memorial Hospital burn unit for treatment, but his mother and her dog died.

The identities of the woman killed and man injured were not immediately released.

Investigators with the state fire marshal's office were on the scene early Tuesday to help determine what sparked the blaze.
