Gwinnett County police are investigating a fatal shooting and assault Monday morning at an apartment complex near Norcross.
The incident happened at the Celadon Townhome Apartments in the 6000 block of South Norcross-Tucker Road, Gwinnett police Cpl. Ed Ritter said.
Ritter said officers responding to a 7:09 a.m. call about a person down found two white males in front of Building F at the complex, one dead from an apparent gunshot and the other in critical condition from a physical assault. The wounded man was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center with “serious head trauma,” but is expected to survive, he said.
“They are not from this area,” Ritter said. “It is not known at this time what they were here for and what prompted this shooting.”
He said a vehicle belonging to one of the victims was found a short distance away.
The deceased victim’s identity has not yet been determined, Ritter said.
