A major route into Atlanta from Cobb County has reopened to traffic after being shut down during the early stages of Thursday’s morning commute because of a natural gas main break

According to Atlanta police dispatchers, a workers ruptured the gas line shortly before 4 a.m. in a construction zone on Northside Parkway near Northgate Drive, just south of the Chattahoochee River.

The southbound lanes of Northside Parkway, which is also known as U.S. 41 and as Cobb Parkway north of the river, were reopened to traffic just before 7 a.m., and the northbound lanes were reopened a short time later.
