The Norcross Public Art Commission will hold a public input meeting to discuss designs for the next Skin Alley ArtWay mural at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Community Center, 10 College St.
Skin Alley runs parallel to South Peachtree Street behind Norcross’ shops and restaurants. The alleyway was originally a place for delivery trucks, but has become the home to jazz performances and outdoor dining.
The latest mural to be painted on the mustard colored building at 20 Skin Alley will be the second mural in the alleyway. In April, Atlanta artist Peter Ferrari’s mural called “Verb” was gifted to the city after being created for a Toyota commercial. The mural is painted across the Norcross Masonic Lodge and Publix Credit Union buildings.
The name ‘Skin Alley ArtWay’ is inspired by the concept of ‘Art is a Way’, with the idea that “art is a way for artists and community members to lift each other up, start conversations, share stories, bridge differences, and find common ground.”
A budget of $15,000 has been set aside for the project.
