Metro Atlanta Urban Farm, A five acre property used as a teaching tool, economic empowerment zone and a food production site for the southwest Metropolitan Atlanta area, is offering assistant to farmers, according to a press release.

If you have not gone through the Produce Safety Alliance Growers Training, the organization will provide information on food safety and food handling.

“As we prepare for the growing season we are implementing and enhancing our readiness to move toward being one of the leaders in Food Safety on and from the farm. All employees must wear protective gloves at all times in the field. We will remain open at this time to sell our produce. However, clients cannot go in the fields,” said Wilson.

“MAUF will work to insure that as many people in the community as possible are able to access healthy, locally-grown fresh fruits and vegetables. Sixty to seventy-five percent of our vegetable will be grown using drip irrigation and biodegradable weed block to cut down on weeds and diseases.”

MAUF, in partnership with the Atlanta Community Food Bank, is providing food to those who are in need.
