New persons of interest identified in assault of East Point man, 80
Three initial persons of interest in an assault case in East Point have been cleared of all wrongdoing, authorities said Wednesday.
Police determined the individuals were not directly related to the beating of an 80-year-old man and are now pursuing three other persons of interest.
East Point police are now looking for a woman who possibly goes by the name “Esha” and two men known as “Dexter” and “Tray,” who also goes by “Rickey.”
An 80-year-old man was assaulted by two men and one woman after returning home from visiting friends Sept. 14, police said.
A female driver blocked the man’s vehicle in the area of Stone Road and Washington Road, and two men jumped from a Mercedes Benz SUV and were armed with at least one handgun, police said.
A brick was thrown into the man’s windshield and the suspects beat the man in the head with the handgun. The suspects fled the scene. The man suffered serious injuries, including broken bones to his face and cuts on both arms, police said.
A reward has been offered of up to $2,000 for assistance with the case. Anyone with information can call the East Point police at 404-761-6287 or 404-577-8477. Tips also can be submitted online at crimestoppersatlanta.org. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
