Fayetteville’s police force now has four new feet hitting the street. K-9 Officer Baco, a 3-year-old Belgian Malinois from Holland, recently completed training along with his partner, Officer Lee Huddleston. Baco is a full-service patrol K-9 trained in tracking, apprehension and narcotic detection. His purchase and training cost about $15,000, paid for by what the city says were “seized funds.” This will be the first time Officer Huddleston, who joined the Fayetteville police department in 2018, has been paired with a K-9. Finn, a German Shepherd, was acquired by Fayetteville in 2017, following the deaths of former K-9s Duke and Remco.
