New beams for Longstreet Bridge over Chattahoochee will close lanes

Georgia Department of Transportation crews began work March 22 to set the 115-foot-long beams for the new Longstreet Bridge over the Chattahoochee River in Gainesville.

Lane closures will occur on State Route 11/U.S. 129 between Briarwood Drive and Thompson Mill Road, from 9 a.m.to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday through March 29.

The project was awarded to E.R. Snell Contractor in May 2017 and is expected to be completed in the fall of 2020.

Drivers are reminded to slow down in the work zone.
