A Marietta woman is out on bond, charged with leaving a 4-year-old in a hot car while she shopped in Gwinnett County last week.

Eun Sook Gabelman posted more than $17,000 in bonds to get out of the Gwinnett County jail on Saturday after being taken into custody a day earlier, charged with second-degree cruelty to children. Jail records show $700 of the bond was for a failure-to-appear offense.

Efforts were being made Tuesday to reach Gabelman for comment.

According to a 911 tape obtained by Channel 2 Action News, several people surrounded the car in a Duluth parking lot off Pleasant Hill Road on Friday after finding the child inside. The vehicle had a window slightly cracked, according to a 911 caller

On the tape, the caller was heard saying, "Little boy, come on wake up! Wake up! Little boy? Little boy? He is not waking up."

After the 911 operator asked the caller whether the child was breathing, the caller responded, “I saw his chest go up. … And his breathing is like someone that would be a heavy snorer." The caller also said the boy’s face was “flushed.”

Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Ed Ritter told Channel 2 the child did not respond to any calls to him.

Gabelman, identified as the child's nanny, approached the car after shopping at a clothing store, police said. When she opened the door, a "gush of hot air came out," Ritter said.

The spokesman said the child, who was taken to a local hospital, may have suffered some type of heat stroke and was treated for dehydration.

Gabelman was in the store for about 30 minutes, according to store surveillance.
