No showers were spotted in metro Atlanta Sunday morning, but the rain chances increase throughout the day, meteorologists say.
Showers, storms and downpours could hit North Georgia this afternoon, Channel 2 meteorologist Brian Monahan said.
A 40 percent chance of rain exists throughout the Fourth of July holiday, which is expected to keep temperatures in the 80s.
The high on Sunday is 87 degrees.
By this time last year, Georgia had 20 more days of 90-degree plus heat, Monahan said.
