Mountain Ed to run Cherokee County evening high school
The Cherokee County School District announced a partnership with Mountain Education Charter High School to take over the district’s Polaris evening program in June.
Under a contract approved by the Cherokee County School Board, Mountain Ed, a system with 18 campuses, will run the program at the Etowah East building on the Etowah High School Campus in Woodstock. As with Polaris, classes will be offered at no charge to students ages 15 to 21, and to age 22 for special education students.
“Mountain Ed will offer our high school students the continued opportunity to earn their high school diploma in the evenings, and will provide them with new services including a mentor to coach them on to graduation and nightly dinners catered by local restaurants,” said district Superintendent Brian V. Hightower.
Classes will meet from 4 to 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. Students will complete self-paced work online using computers at the school, with one-on-one support from teachers, the district said. Information: https://bit.ly/2ToZUEZ
