The Mount Vernon Highway bridge over Ga. 400 in Sandy Springs again is closed for construction through the overnight hours as crews move utilities for the rebuilding of the nearby Ga. 400/I-285 interchange.
Weather permitting, the overpass was to be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly beginning Monday and continuing through Saturday, May 11, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.
For motorists heading east on Mount Vernon, the recommended detour is to turn left onto Barfield Road/Mercedes Drive and right onto Abernathy Road back to Mount Vernon. Westbound motorists should follow the same route in reverse.
Drivers coming up Crestline Parkway, which is east of Ga. 400, can turn right onto Mount Vernon. Information: https://bit.ly/2jfU8S7
