This year’s average composite ACT score for Fayette County high school students rose two-tenths of a point to 23.4, the third highest in the state among school systems with more than 1,000 test takers.

The state average was 21.4 on the college readiness test, which includes sections on English, math, reading and science. The number of students taking the test in Fayette rose 1 percent over last year to a total of 1,121. The composite scores at Fayette County (19.8), Sandy Creek (21.4) and Starr’s Mill (24.7) rose slightly from 2017, while those at McIntosh stayed the same at 25.4. Whitewater’s average score dipped seven-tenths of a point to 23.7.

All five Fayette schools’ scores ranked in the top 46 percent of Georgia high schools.
