Holly Springs police are investigating the Thursday night drowning death of a Cherokee County child.
The 16-month-old boy drowned about 7 p.m. in a small fish pond behind his family's home in Holly Springs, police spokeswoman Tanya Smith said.
The child's name has not been released, but Smith said the family recently moved to Holly Springs and has five children ranging in age from 16 months to 12 years.
She said there is no suspicion of foul play or negligence.
