There won't be a brawl at Atlanta's Symphony Hall after all.

The mixed martial arts  (also known as ultimate fighting) event scheduled for Jan. 16 in the most unlikely of venues has been canceled, according to promoters.

Sin City Fight Club had promised to turn Symphony Hall from "violins to violence" during the fights, which take place in giant cages. But an e-mail to the AJC late Tuesday said only that "the event has been canceled unfortunately." The e-mail did not give a reason.

A check of Sin City's Web site on Wednesday confirmed that the fight night had been called off, but with no explanation offered. The AJC is trying to contact the promoters for more details.

Symphony Hall officials were unavailable for comment, as the facility's offices were closed this week for a "mandatory furlough," according to the answering machine.
