Here’s is a list of some of the events commemorating the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday and holiday around metro Atlanta.

Today

● Kennesaw: City, community and church leaders will hold the second annual “United We Stand, Divided We Fall” event from 5 to 7 p.m. at Kennesaw Mountain High School’s auditorium, 1898 Kennesaw Due West Road.

Monday

● Kennesaw State University: Nikki Giovanni will speak at 2 p.m. at the university’s MLK Day event at Dr. Bobbie Bailey and Family Performance Center. Giovanni, a poet, activist and educator, will have a book signing from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. There is no admission fee.

● Sandy Springs will celebrate the King holiday with a community celebration at 10 a.m. at City Hall, 7840 Roswell Road. ● “A Balm in Gilead,” 5 p.m. Combines music, dance and storytelling in order to reconstruct the two turbulent months that transformed the Memphis sanitation workers’ strike of 1968, which became the setting of King’s assassination.
