The Milton City Council has had first presentation of an ordinance that would update truck weight and length restrictions and designate truck routes.

Vehicles with a total gross weight exceeding 36,000 pounds, or with an overall length exceeding 30 feet, would be restricted to truck routes. Exceptions would be made for passenger-carrying vehicles; trucks going directly to or from their terminal, parking lot, repair garage or headquarters; or trucks making a delivery or pickup – and then, only between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Designated truck routes would be Arnold Mill Road (Ga. 140) from the Cherokee County line to 0.15 miles south of Green Road; Ga. 372 from the Alpharetta city limits to the Cherokee line; Ga. 9 from the Alpharetta city limits to the Forsyth County line; Deerfield Parkway from Windward Parkway to Cumming Highway (Ga. 9); Morris Road from Deerfield to McGinnis Ferry Road; and McGinnis Ferry from Morris to Ga. 400.
